“Fangirl Meets Superman” By Aivan Reigh Vivero

First and foremost, sabihin na natin na marami akong gustong ipagpasalamat sa librong ito. It may not be the first book from Lifebooks that I read (‘Para Sa Hopeless Romantic’ has that title, though).

But anyway, it’s not I could easily change that.

Back to the topic na nga lang.

I could say that it does have a touch of reality on that part, lalo na sa mga bagay at pangarap na kailangang i-prioritized. This book made me even dream of somehow having a similar kind of love story to happen to me without the sad ending or the pressure of fame. But then, hanggang pangarap na nga lang talaga iyon.

May nabasa akong comment noon (I’m not quite sure when) sa Facebook with regards to this story. Nagkaroon tuloy ako ng question with regards to the length of time a certain person needs to be considered a fangirl/fanboy. Chloe wasn’t considered a fangirl, as that person stated it.

The story really does progressed as I continued reading. Kaya lang, I think I still have a problem when it comes to that part kapag nagsusulat ako. I guess I still need to practice more on that.

I had fun reading this story dahil bukod sa nabi-visualized ko ang mga events quite clear, somehow this one made me feel the experience kung ano nga ba ang pakiramdam na makasama ang mga fanatics sa isang get-together at meet-ups. Boring nga sigurong maituturing ang buhay ko, lalo na’t hindi ko pa talaga nararanasan iyon in real life. But this time, ang aim ko ay ang makapunta sa MIBF this year. Iyon ay kung pagbibigyan ako ng pagkakataon.

Another reason for me to have fun reading this is because of the gay characters—lalo na sina Barry at Randel. Maybe because I know kung gaano sila kasayang kasama despite their typically blunt way of speaking. I had friends like them when I was in high school and only one during my first two years in college.

Forgive my silly review. Hindi kasi ako magaling na critic when it comes to stories but I’m vocal kapag talagang ayaw ko ang isang novel. So far, this one doesn’t fall in that category. It’s just that hindi ako marunong gumawa ng book review.

To Madam Aivan, kudos for writing this story. At least it opened my eyes to theinternetlandia kahit papaano. Sana in the future, you could write more wholesome stories like this. Haha!

NOTE: I was listening to “Wagamama (Selfish)” by Nissy of AAA while writing this.
